In the story “The fallout” A fifteen year old named Eli and his family lived in a underground sanctuary they called the compound. After six years of being in the compound because their controlling father set of a bomb to destroy research to cure a disease and said the world was ending, they need to get used to interacting with other situations in the real world. Thier father's company YK is in the hand of Eli and his twin Eddie. Eli and his family still have to determine who they can trust after they escape their fathers devastating research. In this series of events thier was a recurring theme. In my opinion the theme in this book is that if someone that you love does something wrong you have every right to not trust them anymore. In the beginning of the story Eli and his family had a meeting at one of the YK towers with a former guard Named Phil. Phil was really helpful to their dad and them in the book “the compound”. So he was a man to trust, but at the meeting he told the mom that Eli and Edie were going to run the company by the time they were 20. Thier mom didn't like the sound of this but she new it
was going to happen with her dead or alive. She said that she wanted them to start working now so they get a feel of the work. Phil didn't agree with that because the work was “too much”. From this statement the family knew he was hiding something bad. This shows the family started to disagree with Phil ,but they were forced to do what he said against thier lives.Later in the story Phil disappeared and was classified murdered because blood on the walls of his apartment, but no body. The family started to do family outings, this was a dangerous decision because they needed a lack of trust. At this time Eli was the only one who had this. The first family outing was agreed to the aquarium. Only the boys and reese went because lexie was socially and mentally doubtful, the mom was also mentally unstable because the six years she missed of her life, and the rest were too young to go with supervisors the age of fifteen. Lucas the youngest boy in the family wonderd off after going to the bathroom.
Edie went looking for lucas and found Tony with lucas next to him. Edie immediately trusted Tony but Eli figured out in the end that Tony was tested on by his dad that made a way to de-age organisms. This shows that sometimes you can’t trust on first sight.
At the end of the story Edie tried to trust his dad. Eli didn’t like the sound of that idea so he told edie about the room in the compound they called the yellow room. The yellow room was a taunght when the family ran out of food their dad put a glass wall with a yellow room with a lot of food behind it. Edie immediately regret trusting thier dad and escaped the island while it was blowing up and after they turned thier dad into a mutant deflated creature. This shows that you don't know what people could have done before you trusted them. This relates to real life because Strangers are not people to trust at first sight. Even if you have trusted someone before its hard to trust thier changed self after a while of seeing them, and sometimes that is a good thing.
Maybe it is a good decision to not trust them, for instance in this story Eli didn't trust Tony and it turned out Eli already knew him because he was Phil, Eli and his family couldn't trust thier dad when he said he changed.
This essay shows that one of the themes is that you have the right to not trust someone if you don't want to.
